Art Club Sale Benefits Women’s Community

An art sale sponsored by the UWMC Art Club was held during Domestic Violence Awareness Day on Dec. 3. Ceramics, paintings and ornaments filled with candy were donated by students to help with the Art Club’s fundraising efforts. Read the full story

David Obey Visits the UWMC

President Barack Obama brought new meaning to the word stimulus by signing the 787 billion dollar “nation bailout” package last month. U.S. Congressman Dave Obey (D.-Wis.) came to the UWMC to explain the package in lemans terms on Thurs. Feb. 19.

Valentine’s Day Dance for Charity

UWMC philosophy professor, Juliana Paradise Hunt, hosted the fourth Dance for Charity Event on Valentine’s Day in the UWMC student union. The first ever charity dance to be held on a Saturday began at 7:00 p.m. with dance lessons, ending at 12:00 a.m. Tickets were $3.00 if purchased beforehand while they were $5.00 at the door. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Neighbor’s Place, a local organization that helps low- income families. Non- perishable items would go to the Women’s Community and other local food banks.

Governor Doyle Stops by the UWMC

With the U.S. market plunging, retirement accounts being cut in half, and unemployment soaring, Wisconsin Governor James Doyle said he has plans to solve the financial crisis we currently face.

Doyle stopped by the UWMC Round Room on Jan. 30 to discuss the economy and his plans to strengthen it. He stated that he recognizes the country is in economical distress and that Wisconsin is one of the states that have felt it.
