An art sale sponsored by the UWMC Art Club was held during Domestic Violence Awareness Day on Dec. 3. Ceramics, paintings and ornaments filled with candy were donated by students to help with the Art Club’s fundraising efforts.Fifty percent of the proceeds from the event benefited the Women’s Community of Wausau, an organization dedicated to preventing domestic violence. The money raised from the exhibit will help finance an Art Club field trip next year, according to Art Club member Pa Vang. Efforts to support the Women’s Community were brought to the Art Club by Vang, who also serves as the Gender and Women’s Issues Director of the Student Government Association. Pamphlets about domestic violence were made available to students at the event.
